Pick Six with Dakota!

 Pick Six w/Dakota!

*The episode I did with Dakota was unscripted aside from the following information about the films and the stuff I wanted to make sure I didn’t forget (even though I forgot some of it!).

Hello and welcome to Cinema Wellman, I am your host David, and today I’m joined by Dakota!

Dakota is my 6th co-host and she has evened things out for the humans!

Nora, Delta, and Pedro - Brynn, Hannah, and Dakota!

Dakota was in town to help a friend with her baby shower, and we thought it would be fun to do an episode while she was here making it part of this year’s birthday project.

Her assignment was to come up with a list of movies that she considers “ours.”

I then did the same, and, no surprise, we had pretty much the same list.

So, the plan is I’ll introduce each film and we’ll have a little chat about what makes it special to the two of us.

And the fact that these 6 films have an average IMDb score of 7.6 shows that we’re not the only people who love them!

Aladdin (1992)

IMDb: 8.0 - “A kind-hearted street urchin and a power-hungry Grand Vizier vie for a magic lamp that has the power to make their deepest wishes come true.”

Won 2 Oscars (Original Song “A Whole New World” and Score)

Frequency (2000)

IMDb: 7.4 - “An accidental cross-time radio link connects father and son across 30 years. The son tries to save his father’s life but then must fix the consequences.”

Night at the Museum(s) (2006, 2009, 2014)

IMDb: 6.5, 6.0, 6.2 (averaging out to 6.2) - 1st movie “A newly recruited night security guard at the Museum of Natural History discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc.”

Miracle (2004)

IMDb: 7.5 - “The true story of Herb Brooks, the player-turned-coach who led the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team to victory over the seemingly invincible Soviet squad.”

The Prestige (2006)

IMDb: 8.5 - “Two friends and fellow magicians become bitter enemies after a sudden tragedy. As they devote themselves to this rivalry, they make sacrifices that bring them fame but, with terrible consequences.”

Nominated for 2 Oscars: Cinematography and Art Direction

JAWS (1975)

IMDb: 8.1 - “When a massive killer shark unleashes chaos on a beach community off Long Island, it’s up to the local police chief, a marine biologist, and an old seafarer to hunt the beast down.”

Won 3 Oscars: Sound, film editing, Score (John Williams!) also nominated for Best Picture but lost out to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, which I really can’t argue with.
